Basic Information:

Eligibility
  • Open to artists and craftspeople living and/or working in Emeryville, 18 years or older.

  • All visual media will be considered as well as performance arts.

Curator and Jurors

Kathleen Hanna will curate the 30th Annual Art Exhibition. Ms. Hanna is an independent curator and exhibition designer.

The other jurors are Shelley Barry and Danielle Fox, Principals, SLATE Art, Oakland and Elizabeth Shyppert, co-founder, Velvet da Vinci Gallery, San Francisco.

The decision of the jurors will be final.

Purchase Award

The City of Emeryville Art in Public Places Program will consider accepted artwork at the 30th Annual Art Exhibition for a purchase award. Only entries that are for sale are eligible. The selected artwork will become a part of the City’s permanent collection.
Entry Information
  • There is no entry fee. However, upon acceptance to exhibit work, participating artists must volunteer a minimum of 3.5 hours or pay a $75 fee to this community event.

  • Selection of work will be by studio, home or workplace visit or at the Celebration of the Arts’ office. Work will be viewed only in Emeryville. (Please contact the Celebration of the Arts office for details).

  • Digital images of 2D and 3D work may be submitted on a CD, thumb drive, or on-line with an information sheet instead of a studio visit. The artwork must be presented as single image jpegs, no slideshows, no music. Slideshows of 2D or 3D artwork will not be accepted. Only video artists may submit DVDs. CD/jpeg specifications and a required submission form are available at www.emeryarts.org or contact the Celebration of the Arts office. The digital information sheet is available by clicking here.

  • Artists will be notified regarding assigned appointment date and time for studio visit.

  • A list with information on artwork is required at the time of visit.

  • Artwork should be presented for easy viewing, as the jurors will adhere to a strict schedule.

  • Only works not previously shown in the Emeryville Annual will be eligible. Applicants are encouraged to show work completed within the last five years.

  • Jurors will be seeking to view finished artwork and craft.
Exhibition Terms
  • Artists will be notified after studio visits (see calendar above) of the acceptance of their work. Receipt of the artist’s completed registration form constitutes the artist’s agreement with all conditions established in this prospectus.

  • Sales of work included in the Exhibition will be encouraged. A commission of 25% of any sale will be donated to the Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, Inc.

  • A catalogue listing the works exhibited will be available.

  • All work must be labeled and ready for display (framed and wired, or with display case) when it is delivered to the exhibit site. There will be no exceptions and no substitutions for selected work.

  • Work must be delivered and picked up from the Exhibition site by the artist on designated dates. Due to staffing and security limitations, all times and dates must be adhered to without exception. No work may be removed from the Exhibition on or before the closing date.

The Art Exhibition Staff will handle all artwork with extreme care. However, neither they nor the Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, Inc. will be liable for artwork. No insurance for the artwork will be provided by Emeryville Celebration of the Arts. Registration Deadline
