Artist Statement

Ever since I moved to the bay in 2013 I have been in awe with the bay area’s landscapes: the fog formation is a huge one.

In this work I have focused on cloud formations looking out of my living room window on 40th street in Emeryville. My creative process is heavily influenced by my background in photography. I used acrylic paint on a recycled canvas that had already some texture of sparkling molding paste on it, that gives it a more dynamic, vintage look.

While I'm glad to have captured the comfort these clouds have brought me, I hope you also get a taste of their vastness. The colors, lines, and shapes I use seek to emulate how otherworldly they seem in today's modern society. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to think more deeply about their relationship with nature and the role they play in preserving the environment.
